Apple Workers Nab Class Status in Stock-Related Overtime Pay Row

Apple Inc. workers who say the company left out the value of some stock units when calculating their overtime pay can pursue their claims in a class action, a federal judge said.

The technology giant “admits that it maintains this common pay practice” for everyone in the state-law class certified Monday, so common legal and factual questions “will drive the resolution of this case,” the US District Court for the Northern District of California said. The order also rejected Apple’s bid to decertify the workers’ Fair Labor Standards Act collective.
