Apple Workers Have Back Pay From Hiring-Bias Settlement With DOJ

The $18.25 million in back pay Apple Inc. agreed to hand over to end a federal hiring discrimination probe has made its way to affected workers, the US Justice Department said.

Apple reached a $25 million settlement involving back pay and a $6.75 million civil fine in 2023 after DOJ said some of the company’s hiring and recruitment practices had favored foreign applicants over US citizens. The deal required Apple to give American workers more chances to apply for jobs advertised as part of the permanent labor certification program, known as PERM.
