Apple Inc. unlawfully fired an employee at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., over using messaging app Slack to push for workplace changes, a federal labor board official alleged in a complaint announced Friday.

  • An Oakland National Labor Relations Board regional director also accused the tech giant of violating federal labor law by maintaining illegal work rules about Slack; questioning workers about social media activity and in one instance directing the deletion of a post; and interrogating employees about press interviews.
