An industry-funded campaign has filed a ballot measure to exempt app-based drivers from California’s new law making it harder for firms to classify workers as independent contractors, the campaign announced Oct. 29.
The ballot measure would preserve app-based drivers’ independent contractor status while providing enhanced driver benefits, including a wage floor and a health-care stipend.
