Amnesty USA Opposition to Push for Intern Pay Lawful: NLRB (2)

Amnesty International USA didn’t violate federal labor law by opposing its employees’ advocacy to get pay for interns, the National Labor Relations Board said Nov. 12, in a ruling that could stymie intern organizing efforts.

The NLRB reversed an administrative law judge’s decision that the U.S. arm of the global human rights group unlawfully threatened its own employees in response to a petition seeking pay for the interns. Some of the conduct the judge called out included equating organizing with disloyalty and asking staff to report on coworkers’ activism.
