Americans on Payrolls Down 6.5% From Pre-Pandemic Peak: Chart

Friday’s U.S. jobs report is forecast to show that employers added 105,000 workers in January. That would follow the unexpected decline of 140,000 positions in December, underscoring a weak labor market as the coronavirus pandemic continues to restrain the economy. The total number of Americans on payrolls is down 6.5% from pre-pandemic levels.
