The union for American Airlines pilots wants to renegotiate at least part of its contract two years early in an effort to catch up to recent pay raises at rival carriers.
Dan Carey, president of the Allied Pilots Association, urged American’s 15,000 aviators to support the push for early talks. The union’s current deal runs until 2020, but either the labor group or the company could seek to begin talks in 2019. Carey wants to secure a mid-term adjustment in compensation next year, he said in a video made public Nov. 3.
