American Greetings Corp. will pay $4 million to settle a class action brought on behalf of 3,743 field sales operation employees in California, according to a settlement that received final court approval Jan. 29 (Smith v. Am. Greetings Corp., N.D. Cal., 3:14-cv-02577, final settlement approval 1/29/16).
The employees said they weren’t fully reimbursed for mileage, meals and mobile phone expenses associated with traveling to work sites as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage and hour laws.
