American Airlines Workers Get Trial Over Trickery in Early Outs

Two former American Airlines Inc. customer service managers in San Juan may be able to prove they were tricked into participating in the airline’s voluntary early-out program by misrepresentations that they might lose their jobs due to Covid-19 related staff reductions, a federal judge in Puerto Rico ruled.

Vanessa Sacarello’s and Sally Pérez-Rodríguez’s evidence includes emails showing there was a plan to replace them and that they weren’t informed of that before agreeing to leave, the US District Court for the District of Puerto Rico said.

American Airlines “may have acted with dolo,” or deceit, the court said.
