Amazon Wrongly Using Megan’s Law Information in Hiring: Suit

Amazon.com illegally uses information obtained from a state sex offender website to turn away California job applicants, a new federal class lawsuit against it and the background check company charges.

Miguel Lerma Jr. sued Amazon.com Services LLC, Amazon Logistics Inc., and Accurate Background Inc. on Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. He says he had worked successfully for Amazon at its fulfillment center in Mission Viejo as seasonal associate but had his conditional offer of full-time employment revoked after Accurate Background uncovered his 2011 felony rape convictions.
