Amazon Union Gets Court Approval to Help Defend NY Labor Law

The Amazon Labor Union received a court’s permission to intervene in defense of a New York labor law claiming broad state jurisdiction over private-sector labor matters, as the e-commerce giant and the federal labor board challenge the law’s validity.

A federal judge approved the union’s motion to intervene in the Amazon.com Services lawsuit Wednesday. The company is suing the New York Public Employment Relations Board, arguing recent changes to the state’s labor law are preempted by federal statute and should be blocked.
