Amazon to Face Labor Board Bid for Court Order in Staten Island

National Labor Relations Board lawyers will seek a court order against Amazon.com Inc. in an unfair labor practice case related to the online retail giant’s Covid-19 safety protocols at its warehouse in Staten Island.

The NLRB’s regional office in Brooklyn accused Amazon of unlawfully suspending and firing a worker for protesting what he viewed as inadequate workplace protections against the coronavirus. Agency prosecutors obtained approval from the board Thursday to ask a federal court for an immediate injunction—which will likely include reinstatement of the worker—to block alleged labor law violations while they litigate the case before an administrative law judge. ...
