Amazon, T-Mobile Say Age-Biased Job Ads Suit Still Lacking (1)

An age-bias-in-employment class lawsuit targeting Amazon.com Inc. and T-Mobile US Inc. advertisements on Facebook is founded on “an implausible series of assumptions” and alleged discrimination that isn’t prohibited by law and must be dismissed, Amazon and T-Mobile say.

The case, which began in 2017, targets companies that use Facebook’s platform to promote job opportunities, alleging that they opted to advertise only to younger job-seekers. The class-action complaint says hundreds of employers nationwide tailor their recruitment ads on the social network to people in specific age groups—excluding millions of workers older than 40—in violation of the federal Age Discrimination in Employment ...
