Amazon Sues New York Attorney General Over Workplace Safety (1)

Amazon.com Inc. sued New York State Attorney General Letitia James, arguing her office doesn’t have the authority to regulate workplace safety responses to Covid-19.

In a 64-page complaint filed Friday at the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn, the online retailer argues that such regulations are the province of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The company is seeking a court order blocking James’ office from exercising such authority.

James, in a statement issued shortly after the company filed suit, called the retail giant a corporate bully, and accused it of putting profits over workers’ health and safety.
