Amazon Must Face Wage Claim for N.J. Warehouse Covid Screenings

An Amazon warehouse worker will be allowed to expand her wage and hour lawsuit against the company to include a claim for time spent undergoing pre-shift Covid-19 screenings, a federal court in New Jersey said.

Diane Vaccaro brought a potential class action alleging Amazon violated the New Jersey Wage and Hour Law by failing to pay warehouse workers for time spent undergoing mandatory security screenings after shifts and during meal breaks when they decide to eat outside the premises.

The court previously dismissed her meal breaks claim, but allowed her end-of-shift screenings claim to move forward.
