Amazon, Flex Shoppers Debate Class Action Status in Wage Lawsuit

Amazon.com Inc. and Prime Now LLC tried Tuesday to fight back class certification in an action brought in federal court in California on behalf of flex shoppers who say they aren’t properly paid for time spent choosing shifts.

Mario Mabanta worked as a flex shopper from March 2018 through December 2018. The job entails preparing Amazon online grocery orders for delivery. His suit alleges that he and others were required to spend considerable time scheduling shifts without being compensated. He also alleged that he had worked without breaks due to the demands of Amazon orders.
