Amazon Contractors Beat Some Carpenter Wage Allegations, for Now

Construction firms who hired carpenters to help build two new Amazon warehouses are free for now of some wage-and-hour allegations, but a labor-management cooperation committee may amend its complaints and try again, a federal judge in California said.

Clayco Inc. and subcontractor United Contractor Services LLC allegedly didn’t pay carpenters in two cities overtime wages or premiums for missed meal and rest breaks. The unpaid overtime portion of one of the complaints can move forward, but the missed meal break premiums claims of both suits are lacking, according to two US District Court for the Eastern District of California orders. ...
