Amazon Asks Full First Circuit To Review Wage Arbitration Ruling

Amazon.com Inc. wants the full First Circuit to reverse its ruling that AmazonFlex delivery drivers qualify as transportation workers exempt from the Federal Arbitration Act, according to a petition filed Friday.

The appeals court held July 17 that the FAA doesn’t require these workers to cross state lines as long as their work involves transporting goods or people in “the flow of interstate commerce.” AmazonFlex drivers, who deliver goods locally, therefore don’t have to abide by arbitration agreements that would prevent them from litigating their state-law wage claims.
