Amazon.com Inc.’s duty to bargain with a union thousands of workers at a New York City warehouse elected four years ago may depend on which federal appeals court is selected to hear the e-commerce giant’s legal challenge to the vote.

Amazon and an International Brotherhood of Teamsters affiliate have filed dueling petitions in different circuit courts seeking review of a National Labor Relations Board ruling that the company violated its legal obligation to negotiate with the union. A lottery will determine which court gets the case.
