Alaska Airlines to Get Fines Cut in California Pay Stub Suit

Alaska Airlines Inc. will avoid $25 million in penalties in a lawsuit from flight attendants over the company’s wage statements, after a California appellate court Wednesday ordered that the amount be vacated in favor of a lower figure.

The flight attendants sued the airline in state court in San Diego, alleging it failed to provide them with legally compliant wage statements under California law. They sued under the state’s Private Attorneys General Act, which deputizes employees to seek civil penalties for labor code violations against their employers.
