Alabama Chicken Plant Settles $385,000 Child Labor Violations

An Alabama poultry processor will pay $385,000 to the Department of Labor for illegally employing children as young as 13 years old to perform hazardous tasks.

Mar-Jac Poultry AL LLC will pay the civil penalties after the DOL obtained a consent judgment in the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama for the company’s violations of child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the agency announced.
