Agency Heads to Mark Labor Day

It’s Labor Day, almost, and this Monday will mark the 125th anniversary of the day honoring American workers. Acting Secretary Patrick Pizzella will commemorate the day with a ceremony on the front steps of the Frances Perkins building in Washington.

Union Support Rising: The event comes as popular support for unions is near its highest level in 50 years, Andrew Wallender reports. Nearly two-thirds of Americans voiced support for unions in the Gallup poll, though only about 11 percent of workers are unionized, the Bureau of Labor Statistics noted earlier this year.
