Aetna Sued Over Billing Practices in National Advantage Program

Aetna Inc. is accused of underpaying claims from out-of-network providers operating at network facilities in violation of certain health plans in its National Advantage Program, according to a proposed class action filed in federal court in New Jersey.

Beth Shapiro’s lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, takes aim at an Aetna program in which the insurer contracts with third-party provider networks including Multiplan and Beech Street.
