Aetna, Radiology Partners Face Off in Surprise Billing Feud

Medical network Radiology Partners’ acquisition strategies are fueling another dispute under the federal law protecting patients from surprise medical bills, with Aetna Health Inc. seeking to overturn arbitration awards it says the doctors’ group won through fraud.

Radiology Partners is one of the top litigants under the No Surprises Act, which requires doctors and insurers to settle unexpected out-of-network bills through arbitration. Doctor groups have been winning the majority of the disputes, and have been suing insurance companies for allegedly not paying the final tab.
