AECOM Scientist Fired After Accident Lacks Leave Bias Claims

An AECOM environmental scientist fired after a workplace accident in which he was badly burned failed to signal his potential need for job-protected medical leave and lacks a claim for interference with his rights under federal and Washington state law, a federal judge ruled.

Eric Lillywhite was fired after describing the accident to his supervisor and human resources and submitting a written incident report, roughly one month following his release from a hospital, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington said.
