Advocates Sue DOL Over Canceled Grants to Combat Forced Labor

A trio of worker rights and international development organizations say the US Department of Labor violated the law when it canceled millions in grants meant to address child and forced labor in foreign supply chains.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer didn’t have the authority to end at least 69 international labor rights funding programs at the DOL’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs, a new lawsuitfiled in DC federal court Tuesday by the Solidarity Center and two other groups claims.
