The Department of Homeland Security is taking steps to help high-skilled immigrant workers who are trying to get their green cards.
Final regulations issued Nov. 17 (RIN:1615-AC05) deal with how to retain skilled workers who came to the U.S. on temporary H-1B visas but who are in the midst of what can be an extremely lengthy green card application process. Because of annual limits on employment-based green cards—coupled with per-country caps—the wait for a green card can be years or even decades, and that’s after an application has been approved.
