Acrisure Wins Noncompete, Nonsolicitation Suit Against Ex-Broker

A former Acrisure LLC insurance broker was found liable for violating his noncompete and nonsolicitation agreement by taking many of his client accounts with him to a competing brokerage.

There is no dispute that Marc Hudak has taken many of his accounts to Barclay Insurance Brokers LTD, the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan said Thursday, and he has admitted to communicating with clients after leaving Acrisure.

Judge Hala Y. Jarbou ruled that Hudak’s two-year restrictive covenants are reasonable under Michigan law. In New York, where Hudak resides, though, lobbying groups are fighting a tough ban ...
