$15 Minimum Wage Group Sues for 2024 Ballot Access in Michigan

Backers of a $15 minimum wage ballot measure are urging the Michigan Supreme Court to place the question before voters in 2024 in a case that could diminish the power of an election board that routinely stymies petitions before they get a vote.

The Michigan Board of State Canvasser deadlocked 2-2 earlier this month, failing to certify the measure over Republican concerns that the summary was misleading. The board’s GOP members violated state law, the state constitution, and showed the political board was “at it again,” the ballot group said in a complaint filed Monday.
