Life Insurance Co. of North America acted fairly in denying disability benefits to a former sales rep for the National Federation of Independent Business because her records did not demonstrate that she was unable to work, an appeals court ruled.
Deborah Rubin worked for NFIB until June 2021, when she said her anxiety and depression became severe enough that she was unable to do her job. She filed for short-term disability benefits in September 2021, according to Tuesday’s non-precedential opinion from the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
