Vermont Tax Department Announces 1 Percent Local Option Taxes Effective July 1

The Vermont Department of Taxes has announced that municipalities will begin imposing a 1 percent Local Option Tax effective July 1. The new Local Option Sales Tax will take effect in Bristol, Fair Haven, Mendon, Morristown, Pomfret, Swanton, Vergennes, and Waitsfield. In addition, Bolton, Pittsfield, West Windsor, and Westmore will implement a 1 percent Local Option Meals and Alcoholic Beverage Tax, and Peru will implement a 1 percent Local Option Rooms Tax.
