Greer Warns EU Tweaks Risk Watering Down US Trade Deal (1)

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said changes the European Union is considering to a transatlantic trade deal could limit American exports to the bloc.

“We didn’t agree to” those tweaks, Greer told Bloomberg Television, speaking after meeting with his counterparts from the Group of Seven in Paris on Wednesday.

The remarks add further tensions to the EU’s drawn-out attempts to finalize its trade deal with the US. The two sides initially reached reached agreement last July, but the EU has yet to ratify the agreement as EU lawmakers seek amendments, including an expiration date and more protections for local industries. ...
