Turkey’s CoinTR Buys Crypto Platform Bitget Turkiye

Turkish crypto exchange CoinTR acquired trading platform Bitget Turkiye in a “strategic move” to prepare for further regulatory changes affecting digital currencies in the country.

METC Dijital Bilisim Teknoloji AS, also known as CoinTR, didn’t disclose the value of the deal in its emailed statement.

The move comes after the Turkish parliament in June approved legislation for stricter oversight on digital currencies, stipulating that the establishment of crypto platforms will be subjected to approval by the Capital Markets Board.
