Tax Administration Bills Move Forward
House tax writers advanced bipartisan legislation to modernize the US Tax Court and a GOP-led effort to clarify requirements for supervisory approval of IRS penalties.
Ways and Means members on Wednesday voted unanimously to move both bills to the full House for votes.
The Tax Court legislation would give the court more flexibility in extending deadlines and would impose new ethics standards.
Reps. Nathaniel Moran (R-Texas) and Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) sponsored the bill. Moran said he hopes “is just the start of a bigger package.”
