Senate Moves to Speed Up Confirmations
President Donald Trump’s nominees for Treasury Department and IRS positions could have a quicker path to confirmation, as Senate Republicans change the chamber’s rules.
The Senate on Monday voted 51-44 to adopt a resolution that allows the chamber to consider dozens of nominees in a group, instead of individually. The rules change will be cemented when the Senate confirms an initial group of nominees, likely by Thursday, that does not include any Treasury picks.
