NY Appeals Court Mulls Whether Charter Should Get Tech Tax Rate

A New York state appellate panel chewed over whether Charter Communications Inc.'s combined group was entitled to a tax break for tech companies if not every included unit met the requirements during oral argument Thursday.

Charter, formerly known as Time Warner Cable, wants the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Department, to overturn a 2024 state tax tribunal ruling saying the company owes an additional $5.99 million in tax and $1.86 million in interest for tax years 2012 to 2014 because some members weren’t located in New York.
