Morgan Stanley Shared Voltalia Numbers Before Official Release

A French company’s effort to assist analysts ahead of its earnings backfired this week after Morgan Stanley published a note to clients containing details of the results hours before they were officially released.

Voltalia Chief Executive Officer Sebastien Clerc and Loan Duong, the company’s head of communication and marketing, told journalists during Tuesday’s earnings presentation that they sent the press release early to analysts at their request and because Monday was a public holiday and markets were closed.
