MercadoLibre Launches ‘Mercado Coin’ Crypto for Brazilian Users

MercadoLibre announced Thursday its launch of cryptocurrency Mercado Coin, which will become available to all MercadoPago users in Brazil by the end of the month, says Fernando Yunes, the company’s country manager for Brazil.

• Clients will be able to obtain Mercado Coin as a reward following the purchase of some selected products in MercadoLibre; it can be used for purchases at the firm’s marketplace
• Cryptocurrency won’t be listed in any external exchange at first, says Guilherme Cohn, senior corporate development manager
