The Maryland Comptroller of the Treasury announced that taxpayers who are unable to pay their taxes may qualify for one of the state’s low-income taxpayer programs. The hardship relief program stops collection actions like license holds and collection notices for those below 200 percent of the federal poverty level with only Social Security or pension income, though tax refunds may still be taken.
