Indian Minister Says Joint Action Key for Rising Tax Challenges

Countries need to work closely to deal with new challenges emerging from the digitalization of economies, creation of new financial products, and evolving structures of beneficial ownership, India Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

“These are not challenges that any one country can address alone,” Sitharaman said Tuesday to a gathering of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development members in New Delhi.

India this year is hosting the OECD’s meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, a group of 172 nations that work on implementing international standards on tax transparency.
