House Republicans Questions Gensler on Prometheum, Ether

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry asks SEC Chair Gary Gensler to clarify the agency’s position on Prometheum’s custody of Ethereum’s token Ether.

• Lawmakers says the agencies have an “extensive” public record identifying Ethereum’s token as a non-security digital asset
  • “Yet now, we are faced with an alarming scenario in which a SPBD has announced that it intends to offer custodial services for ETH under a regime that does not permit such activity,” McHenry and others write in letter
