HK Says More Investor Protection Needed for Virtual Assets

Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Securities and Futures Commission consider that additional investor protection measures should be imposed in the distribution of virtual assets-related products, according to a circular.

  • Firms providing virtual assets dealing services to non-qualified corporate professional investors and individual professional investors should revise their systems and controls to align with the updated requirements
  • Transitional period for intermediaries serving the existing clients extended until Jan. 20
