Germany MOF Seeks Comments on Bill for Annual Tax Act 2026

The German Ministry of Finance May 19 opened a consultation on a bill for Annual Tax Act 2026. The bill includes measures to: 1) ensure parents receive the full tax allowance for children residing in other EU or European Economic Area (EEA) countries; 2) increase, to 100,000 euros (US$116,240) annually, from 10,000 euros (US$11,624), the withholding tax exemption threshold for cross-border royalties; 3) prohibit the reduced tax rate on exempt capital gains from sales of investment units, from assessment period 2027; 4) increase, to 25 million euros (US$29.1 million) from 15 million euros (US$17.4 million), the maximum eligible expenditure for ...
