FTX Bankruptcy Judge Delays Appointing Independent Examiner (1)

FTX Group’s bankruptcy judge will not decide today whether to appoint an examiner after the firm and the US Department of Justice sparred over whether an independent party should investigate the cryptocurrency empire’s collapse.

US Bankruptcy Judge John Dorsey wants the two parties to try to come to a consensus. He said an update might be possible during Wednesday’s hearing.

The US Trustee, part of the Justice Department that oversees bankruptcy courts, argued that an examiner should be appointed by the judge in order to give a comprehensive, external investigation of the firm’s downfall through a report.
