Former Pricewaterhouse Coopers Australia acting CEO, Kristin Stubbins, said she was “stunned” to discover the true extent of the tax leak scandal impacting the firm when she took up the role last year.

Stubbins was a member of the firms’ executive board from 2020 till 2023. She spent three months in the acting CEO position after former CEO Tom Seymour left.

Stubbins Tuesday told an inquiry into the consulting industry that the PWC board had been given brief verbal updates about “largely resolved”, “legacy tax matters” during her term, prior to being appointed acting CEO.

PwC declined to comment.
