Stocks tied to the digital yuan jump after Chinese media reported that a local government plans to pay civil servants their wages in the digital currency.
- Changshu, a county-level city in Jiangsu province, said salaries of civil servants and employees of public institutions and state-owned units will be paid in digital yuan from May, according to a report by Shanghai Securities News
- Xuzhou, another city in Jiangsu, said it will expand the uses of digital yuan to areas including retailing, public transport and tourism
