Cryptoqueen Lawyer Has Regulator’s Claim Against Her Thrown Out

A former lawyer for the fugitive Ruja Ignatova has had a claim against her thrown out after a London tribunal ruled that there was no evidence of improper conduct on her part.

Claire Gill, a lawyer at firm Carter-Ruck, was facing a prosecution by the UK’s legal regulator, which alleged she’d made “improper” legal threats to a victim of the $4 billion OneCoin scam. On Friday afternoon after a two-day hearing, the tribunal moved to strike out the regulator’s case saying it was based on hindsight rather than any evidence of professional misconduct.
