Crypto Ownership in UK Falls to 8% Despite Political Momentum

The proportion of Brits that hold crypto declined to around 8% of the adult population this year, despite record prices earlier in the year and a major push by the industry to break into the mainstream.

The fall is the first time that UK ownership has decreased year-on-year since 2021, according to research published by the Financial Conduct Authority on Tuesday. Around 7 million adults, or 12% of the adult population, owned crypto in 2024, up from 10% in 2022 and 4.4% in 2021.
