CFPB Agrees to Vacate Ban on Medical Debt Credit Reporting (1)

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is moving to kill a Biden administration rule barring medical debt from appearing on credit reports, but a federal judge will have to determine whether consumer groups can defend the rule first.

The Consumer Data Industry Association, the Cornerstone Credit Union League, and the CFPB on Wednesday filed a joint motion for consent judgment in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas that would vacate the medical debt rule.
