California lawmakers on Wednesday expressed frustration with how Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration has tackled cryptocurrency regulations, arguing for the need of state legislation to help further rein in the industry.
“The simple fact is California has not lived up to our reputation as a leader, and we have failed to provide some basic consumer protections in this particular space,” said state Sen. Monique Limón (D). She made her remarks during a joint hearing of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee and the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee.
